Moving Tips – Things To Do When You Enter New House

Before moving to the new house, you need to make sure a couple of things are in place to avoid any trouble once you move in. One of the most important things is getting electricity up and running and having a phone at the new place. This way you can always get help if needed in emergency.
Now that you are in your new home, here are the things you need to immediately do when the moving truck arrives:

When the moving truck arrives at your new house, you need to get in charge and become the ultimate director. First off, if your children are young, send them off to their new rooms and have them stay there and not get in the way unless they’re big enough to help you. You need to make sure that any stuff that belongs to the kids get to their room and doesn’t come out until everything is set up.

The main rule you need to follow is you need to make sure that everything that you unpack, must immediately go to the places where it is supposed to go. Do not open another box until the content of the opened box are in place. Once the box is empty, throw it away.

Once the moving truck has put everything in your new home, you need to make sure that your family gets fed properly. If you’re in luck, the appliances in your new house should be working properly. If you have packed some pre-made food, you can start heating it up. You can also plan a dinner ahead of time but if you want to save money and the energy of going to a restaurant, packing some food with you is a great idea.

When you have eaten your food, you should unpack the necessary stuff like bed sheets, blankets and toiletries and simply prepare to go to bed. You may even be able to get your fort lauderdale moving company to unpack for you. Do not start unpacking your entire home in one night. Wake up the next morning and prepare yourself a cup of coffee and then start with the rest of the things. Just don’t panic or try to do everything in a single go.

During the breakfast, think and come up with a plan. You should ideally be writing down the things you need to unpack first, for example, stuff for your children can be unpacked early to give them something to be distracted.

Now that you have a plan, start unpacking room by room, box by box. As mentioned before, do not unpack any new box until you have placed the contents of the first one. You will come across a lot of stuff in your boxes that may have no place to go in the room or in the house. If such stuff comes up, don’t just throw them in a pile. Keep them in a different box which can be given away or a box where you can decide what to do with the stuff later on.
